“ILUMINADOS POR EL FUEGO” (“ENLIGHTENED BY FIRE”)
THE TECHNICAL INDUSTRIES AWARD TO FILMS IN PROGRESS 6
Argentinean feature film, directed by Tristán Bauer

The Argentinean film by Tristán Bauer, “Iluminados por el fuego” (“Enlightened by Fire”) is the winner of the Films in Progress 6 Award granted each year by the group of collaborating technical industries to one of the films presented in the section of the same name, in order to permit it to complete its post-production stage.

This award, bestowed for third time at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, carries all of the services and materials necessary for the film to be able to complete its post-production stage. Exa, Kodak, Molinare, No Problem Sonido, RF Sonido, Technicolor-Madrid Film Lab and Titra Film are the collaborating entities making this award possible.

This award will permit Tristán Bauer to relaunch and finalize the technical sound and image processes necessary for his 35mm film to reach commercial theatres, cinema, video, TV networks and cultural dissemination circuits.

“Iluminados por el fuego”, in competition for the Films in Progress Award along with another six Latin American titles, tells the tale of three youngsters who fought in the war against Great Britain when they were 18. Twenty years later, the attempt of one of them to commit suicide, makes Esteban, now 40, remember the experience of the war together with his two best friends: Vargas and Juan. The memories push Esteban to take the decision to return to the islands and close his old injuries.

The last film awarded a prize by the technical industries was “La sombre del caminante” (“The Wandering Shadows”), by the Colombian Ciro Guerra, this year competing in the Zabaltegi/New Directors section at San Sebastian.
