EUROPEAN PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR AWARD

The San Sebastian International Film Festival has decided to create a new award for a European personality to have decisively promoted European cinema during the year.
This first European Personality of the Year Award will be presented on Friday September 24 to Viviane Reding, member of the European Commission responsible for Education and Culture.

These novelties round off the programme of a Festival consisting of:

Official Section, a look at the reality and problems of today’s world, not forgetting more personal and intimate dilemmas.

Zabaltegi and Horizontes Latinos, also reflecting this map of the world seen through the eyes of cinema. The forcefulness of documentaries blurring the border between reality and fiction; Latin American cinema, a hotbed of new talent...

Incorrect@s, retrospective giving the floor to those who already took a stance against imposition.

Anthony Mann, and his complete retrospective: the honesty of many of his characters will offer a haven and a ray of hope in these moments of terrible convulsion.

Woody Allen who, in addition to opening the Festival on the 17th, is the subject of our contemporary retrospective, giving us the chance to unite and review one of modern cinema’s most important careers.

  III International Film School Meeting
For the third year, students from 12 schools will have the chance to present a selection of their school work at the Festival.
