The San Sebastian Festival and Tabakalera (International Contemporary Culture Centre of San Sebastian) have entered an agreement to jointly organise the International Film School Meeting held each year during the Festival. This meeting offers students the opportunity to screen their selected shorts while participating in different activities alongside professionals from the audiovisual industry.

The implication of Tabakalera as a factory of visual culture pursues the undertaking to back young audiovisual creators and collaborate in parallel actions such as the Masterclass on new technologies and the creation of debate forums on subjects like audiovisual teaching or the present and future of the world of cinema.

The seventh Film School Meeting, to take place on 25 and 26 September 2008, will introduce important new features:

  • ·Participation is open to all schools in the world, each of which can present three candidate short films. A selection committee will select a total of twelve schools to screen their works during the San Sebastian Festival.

  • Each year two schools of international prestige will be invited to share their experiences with the students participating in the Meeting.

A special jury consisting of students from the participating schools and chaired by a well-known person from the film world will choose the winner of the aiTe (asociación de industrias técnicas del audiovisual español) Award, carrying €6,000 in post-production services for the winning film.

At last year's Meeting, the Mexican director Alfonso Cuarón was the Jury Chairman and gave participants a Masterclass on the new Genesis digital camera together with Affonso Beato.
