Held since 1997 at the San Sebastian International Film Festival, A Day of Basque Films pays tribute to Basque film industry creations.

This event, organised by IBAIA (Association of Independent Audiovisual Production Companies of the Basque Country) and the San Sebastian International Film Festival, also has the collaboration of the Basque radio and television network - EITB, EABE-Euskal Aktoreen Batasuna-Basque Actors’ Association, the Basque Government Department of Culture, the Basque Film Archive and the Berria Newspaper.

A Day of Basque Films is dedicated to promoting and screening the latest Basque productions at the Principe Cinemas, where we will find works in different genres: animation, fiction, documentary, shorts, and the odd important contribution by the Basque Film Archive.

In addition to serving as a showcase for Basque celluloid, A Day of Basque Films also includes a meeting space for professionals from the sector at which the IBAIA award is presented to an audiovisual production and/or initiative, the AMALUR Award paying tribute to the career of an important personality from the Basque audiovisual world which will this year go to the musician and composer, Alberto Iglesias, and the Berria Award, given by the Basque newspaper to the best short film of the last year in the Basque language.
