Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
During 2016 Creative Europe Media will start collaborating with San Sebastian 2016, European Capital of Culture, and the San Sebastian International Film Festival, with the objective of developing new audiences in the digital era. This field is of enormous importance for San Sebastian 2016, given that it is one of the motors of its cultural programme, and for the Film Festival, which has promoted several initiatives to attract young audiences and open up to new forms of audiovisual creation.
The initiative is framed within the European Film Forum, a platform created by the European Commission to articulate a dialogue with the audiovisual sector on strategic questions. The Cultural and Creative industries, in particular cinema and audiovisual media, are among Europe’s most precious assets. They promote our cultural and linguistic diversity, and are also an impressive driver of economic growth. The Commission’s Digital Single Market Strategy aims to improve access to creative content and reach out new audiences.
Donostia/San Sebastian, with all the different cultural initiatives being present in San Sebastian 2016, is the perfect place to engage in a dialogue on audience development as a driver for a more creative and diverse Europe.
