This year the Festival will be celebrating its 60th consecutive edition with the same enthusiasm felt the day it first saw the light on September 21st 1953. [+]
The director Asier Altuna is really pleased with the final result of his latest film Bertsolari, which aims to give people a better idea of the world of the Bertsolaris, who improvise verses sung in Basque.
This documentary, as Altasuna points out was the result of a feeling he had.“The motive I had for making it was that whenever I went to a Bertsolaris competition I felt an emotion that I wanted to transmit,” he explained.
The film intersperses interviews with various Bertsolaris with the limited amount of documentary material that exists on this subject.
