The San Sebastián Festival, in collaboration with Tabakalera and MEDIA Antena Euskal Herria, is pleased to invite you to take part in the First Edition of the Digital Audiovisual Forum, which will be held on Thursday September 17, 2009 at the Kursaal Congress Centre.

This initiative comes about as a result of the San Sebastián Festival’s commitment to the future of the cinematographic industry and will serve as a curtain raiser to the 9 days of this year’s Film Festival. The Digital Audiovisual Forum will enable participants to share a realistic view of the sector and to analyse the challenges and question marks presented by the new digital formats in order to both meet and answer these in light of all the aspects involved in the process.

It is the above, plus the desire to stay abreast of the industry year after year, that has led to the creation of this forum, which also aims to consolidate itself as the platform from which to study the development of all the agents involved in the emergence of digital cinema.

The programme of this year’s inaugural Forum will be as follows:
 

1. 10:00h-New approaches for digital distribution. A la carte TV.
   Identifying and cataloguing the new distribution channels.
2. 11:30h-The viewer as consumer of an infinite number of screens.
   Analysing the new audiovisual consumption of our times, and how to adapt digital contents to the new reality.
3. 12:30hAnalysing the situation in which the viewing outlets find themselves in our country.
   Providing an estimate of the current turnover of Digital Cinema in Spain and a forecast for the coming years.
4. 16:00h-How to tackle the digital conversion of the cinemas. Adapting a cinema to digital sound.
   Providing a census, breakdown by type and market position of the most relevant suppliers plying their trade within this sector in Spain. Studying the budgets of these projects and analysing the returns on investment and the evaluation of the results according to their developers, from both the image and the sound point of view.

The Digital Forum is pitched at all those organisations wishing to thoroughly familiarise themselves with their competitive environment, such as producers, distributors, outlets, TV channels, agencies, technology providers, audiovisual companies in general, as well as sociologists and analysts. In short, everybody who wants to know and understand more about the fascinating opportunities that the cinema of the new millennium offers will be welcome.
