Tae-suk spends his time temporarily occupying houses while their owners are out of town. One day, while looking for a place to go, he comes across Sun-hwa, a young girl locked away and maltreated by her wealthy, jealous husband. Intrigued, she decides to follow Tae-suk in his rovings from home to home, until they get caught one day: the young boy is put in prison and Sun-hwa is obliged to return to her husband. The first thing Tae-suk does on his release is set out in search of Sun-hwa...
Born in Bonghwa (Korea). A worker at the age of 17, marine at 20 and subsequently aspiring preacher, in 1990 he went to France, where he earned a living selling his paintings. He is self- taught, having learned while making his movies: The Crocodile (1996), The Isle (1999), Address Unknown (2001), Bad Guy (2002), The Coast Guard (2002), Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring (2003), Samaritan Girl (2004), Silver Bear in Berlin, 3-Iron (2004), Silver Lion for Best Director and Fipresci Grand Prix for Best Film in Venice, and The Bow (2005).
