Oriol and Yolanda live in Paris with their two daughters. He is an architect, she is a teacher. An accident while on holidays in the Ebro Delta changes their lives.
Studied at the Escuela Internacional de Cine y Televisión in San Antonio de los Baños (Cuba). In 2003, he directed his first feature film, Las horas del día, selected for the Directors' Fortnight in Cannes and winner of the international critics' Fipresci Prize. La soledad (2007), his second film, was selected for Un Certain Regard at Cannes and landed three Goyas, including Best Film and Best Director. Tiro en la cabeza (Bullet in the Head, 2008) competed in the Official Selection at the San Sebastian Festival that same year, where it won the Fipresci Prize. Sueño y silencio (The Dream and the Silence) was screened as part of the Directors' Fortnight at Cannes 2012.
