Young Glasgow-born Robbie sneaks into the maternity hospital to see visit his girlfriend Leonie. On holding their newborn son Luke for the first time, he is overwhelmed and swears that the child will not lead the same stricken life as his own, full of problems and spattered with crimes past. On community service, Robbie meets Rhino, Albert and Mo for whom, like him, work is little more than a distant dream. Harry, the educator assigned to them, becomes their mentor on initiating them to the art of whisky. Robbie discovers that he has a formidable talent as a taster and is soon able to identify the barrels of the most unusual and expensive malts. Together with his three mates, will Robbie use his flair to continue his life of violence and vendettas or will he choose a new promise-filled future? Only the angels know...
