The JURY OF THE KUTXA-NEW DIRECTORS AWARD at the 57th San Sebastian International Film Festival, made up of the following members:

Considers the following:

In the first place, we would like to spotlight and, of course, congratulate the Festival Selection Committee for what in our opinion has been a high quality selection. This has caused we, the Jury members, more than a little difficulty. Several films elevate everyday stories to poetic heights.

We grant a special mention for its complex and drastic approach to a family tragedy of uncertain and difficult solution, to the film:

• “SAMMEN / TOGETHER” (Norway) by Matias Armand Jordal

And we grant the KUTXA-NEW DIRECTORS AWARD for its specifically cinematographic outlook, as real as it is metaphorical, to the film:

• “LE JOUR OÙ DIEU EST PARTI EN VOYAGE” (Belgium) by Philippe Van Leeuw

A specially formed international jury is charged with granting the Kutxa-New Directors Award of the Donostia-San Sebastian International Film Festival. The largest monetary prize given in any festival, this 90,000 Euros (about 110,000 dollars) is shared by the winning film's director and the Spanish importer. The first or second features of directors participating in the Official Section or Zabaltegi are eligible whenever the films have not already been screened in any other festival.
