In a middle-class neighbourhood of a large city, which could be London in the near future, lives a lonely woman who watches in amazement as the world around her and her own personal world change. She also has the power to travel back in time and walk through the walls of her flat. From her window, she watches the hungry crowds gathering in self-defence tribes. Animals invade the streets and deserted houses, and a group of children take refuge in the Underground to try to survive through cannibalism.
