Norma Desmond, an old movie star who fell to less due to the arrival of sound to the film world, and not because a loss of popularity, lives isolated from the rest of the world in her house and memories and protected by her butler Max. Norma adopts as her protege a young script witer out of work and decides to return to the movies.
