Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Enrique Urbizu competed here in 2011 with No habrá paz para los malvados, which later won six Goyas, including Best Actor for its star, José Coronado. At the press conference that followed the screening of the first two episodes of the TV series “Gigantes”, Coronado said he was delighted to work again with Urbizu in a series that, “is going to mark a turning point in the history of television fiction in our country.”
Coronado defined his character as “amorality made flesh, a genuine demon who blazes the trail for these three Rottweilers to follow”, in reference to his sons, the Guerrero brothers, the main characters in the series.
Urbizu confessed that he’d been inspired by 1950’s melodramas and that “Gigantes” was “about a male world that is falling apart”. For his part, Domingo Corral, director of fiction at MoviStar+, didn’t feel it was risky to have started shooting a second season without having even shown the first one, as he was so convinced about this project that he hadn’t needed to see any ratings to film a second season, and he was already thinking about a third one.
