Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The company Amenabar, Official Collaborator of the Festival and sponsor of Movies for Kids section, will sponsor this year’s surprise movie programmed for September 26 a few hours prior to the closing gala of the 68th edition. The screening will take place at 15h45 in the Victoria Eugenia Theatre.
In 2019, the Festival recovered the former tradition of programming a surprise movie, the title of which was announced during the edition. Joker, by Todd Phillips, was the feature film chosen last year. The movie went on to land eleven Academy Award nominations, landing two statuettes: Best actor (Joaquin Phoenix) and Best original score (Hildur Guðnadóttir).
Since last year, Amenabar also sponsors the movies for kids screenings for family audiences. During the Festival weekends, young boys and girls can enjoy films dubbed into Basque at the Príncipe cinemas.
Amenabar, an Official Festival Collaborator since last year, is one of Spain’s leading property developers backed by almost 40 years’ experience which, besides having its own property development and construction companies, also has other resource-providing endeavours (a quarry, tarmac plant, technical teams and sampler factory, among others). Specialised in promotion and construction, with the experience of having built in excess of 25,600 homes, today the company has more than 62 developments in Spain. Apart from the above, Amenabar is responsible for hugely emblematic buildings including the Kursaal, the Basque Culinary Center, the Biodonostia Health Research Institute, Tabakalera and the San Telmo Museum, all located in San Sebastian.
