Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Pilar Palomero (Zaragoza, Spain) graduated in Hispanic Philology at the University of Zaragoza in 2003 and, 10 years later, was selected by the Hungarian filmmaker Béla Tarr to join the international film.factory school in Sarajevo. She has participated in programmes such as Berlinale Talents (2016 and 2021), and is a member of the filmmaking collective BISTRIK7.
She made her debut in feature films with Las niñas / Schoolgirls (2020), premiered in the Generation Kplus section of the Berlin Festival and winner of the Golden Biznaga at the Málaga Festival. The film was distributed internationally and garnered four Goya Awards: Best Film, Best New Director, Best Original Screenplay and Best Cinematography.
She has competed in the San Sebastián Festival’s Official Selection with La maternal / Motherhood (2022) and Los destellos / Glimmers (2024). Both films received the Silver Shell for Best Leading Performance, for Carla Quílez in the former and for Patricia López Arnaiz in the latter. La maternal / Motherhood was nominated for three Goya Awards and Los destellos / Glimmers for four.
