Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
Having started to work with different local media, Urtzi Urkizu (Lezo, Gipuzkoa) went on to become a journalist with Euskaldunon Egunkaria from 1999 until February 2003. He participated in founding the Berria newspaper, where he has continued to work since 2003. He mainly writes on audiovisual and media topics. Every Sunday he publishes the critical analysis section Pantailen artetik. He has collaborated with several Basque language media.
For years he has written reviews and columns at the San Sebastián Festival. From 2012 until 2020 he was the coordinator and writer of the television programme Zurriolako butaka running on the Festival dates.
He has directed two documentaries: No Excuse (2006) and Euskaldunon Goya (2016).
He has written three books: Beta (self-published, 2007), Kezka bat gutxiago (Maiatz, 2012) and Txoria hodei artean: ETB lehen eta gero (Berria, Elkar, Jakin, 2024). The latter is a journalistic essay on the Basque public television. He is currently writing another book about journalism.
In 2025 he received the European Midas Journalism Award for his interviews and articles on minority language media.
