Fourteen short films will be showcased in Nest, the international competition for shorts by film school students, selected from the 473 submissions from 220 schools in 57 countries (Belgium, France, Germany, India, Malaysia, Mexico, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the US), setting a new record for this section. Nest is the starting point for many filmmakers, such as Diego Céspedes, who will be showcasing The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo, awarded the Un Certain Regard Prize at Cannes, in Horizontes Latinos. The winner will get the Nest the Mediapro Studio Award worth 10,000 euros. This year brings two additional awards: the Movistar Plus+ Award for Best Short Film, involving the purchase of broadcasting rights in Spain via the platform, and the Tabakalera Award, offering a 3-week residency to run in 2026 for the winning director.
