Z365" or "Festival all year round" is the new strategic point of the Festival in which converge investigation, accompaniment and development of new talents (Ikusmira Berriak, Nest); training and cinematic knowledge transfer (Elías Querejeta Zine Eskola, Zinemaldia + Plus, Filmmakers' dialogue); and investigation, disclosure and cinematic thought (Z70 project, Thought and Discussion and Research and publications).
The San Sebastián Festival strengthens its collaboration with Repsol as its energy partner, thereby enabling the competition to continue progressing with the objective to reduce its CO2 emissions and to continue functioning as a carbon neutral event.
For the third year running, the company brings a number of energy solutions designed to reduce the emissions generated by the Festival. On the one hand, 100% renewable fuels will be used for the transfer of guests and workers at the event.
In addition, Repsol will also provide the Festival with generating sets running on 100% renewable fuel and which will meet the energy requirements of the closing party, to take place at the Miramar Palace.
The 100% renewable fuels made by Repsol are produced using waste products such as used cooking oil, pruning debris and waste from agriculture and livestock activities, as well as from the agrifood industry, thereby giving them a second life.
Also, and like in previous editions, Repsol will allow the Festival’s fleet of electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles to use its entire San Sebastián public charging network with several points already in place and operational. As well as enabling the slow-charging electric stations on the Paseo del la República Argentina, Repsol will permit part of the fleet of official cars to make use of its fast charging facilities at refuelling stations.
Repsol will set up a space in the Plaza Okendo, with Kinótico, a leading media outlet in Spanish on the subject of the audiovisual industry, which will broadcast all of the Festival activity. Furthermore, in this space, the public can have a rest, charge their mobile phones with solar power and enjoy a first-hand cinematic experience, watching the podcast interviews, round tables and recordings free of charge.
The San Sebastian Festival became a carbon neutral event for the first time at its 72nd edition, in 2024.
