From 24-30 November, Montevideo and Buenos Aires will host the second edition of MASS, a season of six films with Spanish production to have previously participated in the San Sebastián Festival and the Málaga Festival (event organized by Málaga City Council). Produced by OrcaFilms, the initiative boasts the support of the Spanish Ministry of Culture through the Spanish Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts (ICAA) and Acción Cultural Española (AC/E) through its programme for the internationalisation of Spanish Culture. In Montevideo, MASS is backed by the Agencia del Cine y el Audiovisual de Uruguay (ACAU) and the Cinematheque and the Film Shool of Uruguay (ECU), while in Buenos Aires it has the support of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires and the collaboration of Aeropuertos Argentina and the Argentine Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
MASS, the Málaga and San Sebastián Festival Week, will show six feature films at the Cinemateca Uruguaya from 24-26 November and once again from 28-30 at the Lugones Cinema of the San Martín Theatre, in Buenos Aires. Juan Antonio Vigar and José Luis Rebordinos, respective directors of the Málaga and San Sebastián Festivals, will head the Spanish delegation, accompanied by several members of the teams of the selected films.
For its part, the San Sebastián Festival will show the film Karmele, one of the Special Screenings from its Official Selection, accompanied by its director, Asier Altuna; Los Tigres, winner of the Jury Prize for Best Cinematography, to be introduced by its producers Koldo Zuazua and Juan Moreno, and La cena / The Dinner, programmed as part of the RTVE Galas and represented on this occasion by its director, Manuel Gómez Pereira, alongside of one of its protagonists, the actor Asier Etxeandia.
Coming from the programme of the Málaga Festival is the screening of Sorda / Deaf, winner of the Golden Biznaga for Best Film and the Silver Biznaga Audience Award, to be introduced in both cities by its director Eva Libertad and producer Miriam Porté; La buena letra / The Good Manners, one of the films of the year to enjoy greatest critical acclaim, accompanied by its director Celia Rico and its protagonist Loreto Mauleón, and Una quinta portuguesa / The Portuguese House, a huge success with the audience on its commercial release and which will be accompanied by the filmmaker Avelina Prat and the producer of the film, Miriam Porté.
