Director
A mixture of biography, musical and surrealist fantasy, Alex Cox endeavours to narrate the life of Sid Vicious, bassist and mega icon of the mythical British punk group The Sex Pistols, and the tormented relationship with his girlfriend, Nancy Spungen. The Pistols themselves are little more than a backdrop: Cox chose to concentrate on the destructive love between Sid and Nancy to obtain his portrayal of the punk generation, which in the London of the 70s attempted to instil the idea of fast life and young death, finally unwittingly changing the history of pop music. When Nancy was found dead in 1978 in New York?s Chelsea Hotel, Sid was arrested and accused of her murder.
