Cookies are small text files stored in the User’s computer; they are unable to read data stored on their hard drives or in other cookies generated by other service providers and are used to store and recover information regarding visits made by the User for the purposes of a more effective and personalised service and to facilitate their browsing as regards language used, passwords, etc. Cookies also provide other kinds of information such as IP addresses, the specific content visited, the date and time of the visit, the length of the visit, etc.
The User is free to decide whether or not to allow cookies on their hard drive and can configure their browsers to accept or reject all cookies by default, or to receive an on-screen warning every time a cookie is received in order that they may decide in each case whether or not to allow a cookie to install itself on their hard drive. Some browsers also allow cookies to be deleted after every visit. The User can adapt the configuration of their computer browser to their personal needs, and can therefore allow cookies or prevent their installation on their hard drives.
