A group of Basques meet in Argentina in the early 1930s to work in the fields. Iñaki rents a blacksmith's shop and marries Teresa, but he ends up alone and saddened by the fact that others do not understand him. Teresa falls ill with leukaemia and dies. Iñaki faces life head-on and returns to the countryside, encouraged by his old friends.
