A builder, Von Bohm, arrives in a small town dominated by the upper class in the midst of Germany's reconstruction. Von Bohm's intentions are to put an end to the corrupt establishments, and in one of them he meets the mysterious Lola. He is immediately attracted to the young woman and is later horrified to discover that she is a cabaret singer who performs in a brothel frequented by many young officers.
