The religious organisation Harley's Soldiers, which uses television as a means of spreading its beliefs, is going through a critical situation. To regain a larger audience, they decide to go to Italy to find Maria, a young clairvoyant with a reputation for performing miracles. Maria, a small-town girl, faces a series of tensions and situations that are unfamiliar to her. One night, Mark and Maria, who has become pregnant, try to escape. During their flight, Maria gives birth to a child.
