Claiming deafness, Jakob Nüssli exempts himself from serving in the army during the First World War. Jakob is a pacifist, a skilled and talented dancer, and his only concern is that his ox cart does not get stuck on rainy and snowy days. He finds a solution, but the only flaw in his invention is that it has come too late.
