Jane was a victim of the English reformation, was used, abused, degraded, defaimed and killed. She walked alone through her triumphs and errors, estranged even from her own opinions and the condemnation she threw at those who exploited and destroyed her. She judged with a sober eye, had an almost inhuman sense of resolution.
Guildford Dudley was Lady Jane Grey's husband. He governed England for 9 days in 1553. Their marriage had been "arranged" in order to hinder aspirin Catholic Mary's efforts to gain the throne. The libertine, lover of London, Guildford looked like a bad companion for the austere and studious Jane. However, from mutual hostility, they developed a deep love. Jane was sixteen and a half and Guildford eighteen.
