Rosa is pretty and hardworking. Her sisters are ugly and dumb. rosa is her father's favourite. That is why her father is very upset when she decides to marry a sweet-talking knifegrinder. The knife-grinder is very much in love with Rosa, but he also happens to be a crook. Rosa's granmother, a huge and vigorous woman who seems to have strange powers, had warned her.
When the seductor dies, Rosa goes to Madrid with her baby girl, called Olvido like the grandmother. There, thanks to her cunningness , she manages to obtain a small stall in one of the capital's market. It is so small and hidden under a staircase thta nobody had noticed it. Life at the market is not easy and Rosa does not lack enemies... But Rosa's skin is tough in spite of her appearance of softness.
