Synopsis
In mid-19th century Venezuela, a man and a woman try to break away from the bonds of their fate. He is an Indian who is enlisted in the liberal army: she, a white woman who knows what it's like to feel hunger. One day, the faint memory or dream of paintings and oranges brings them together in an impossible love. Tired of so much fighting, they wander around the Caribbean, searching for life and running from death. The capitan comes across a strange magical object: the bilongo, a terrible companion that grants him luck in game, but torments him day and night with the fear of a restless death, because the devil always goes after his debtors.
