It's not their lucky day when Salvador and María run into each other at the beginning of the 50's. She's just lost her job as a maid and he's the manager of the Orient Cinema, where María chances to shelter from the rain. Deciding to live together, they set out on a relationship fraught with failure, frustration and bad luck - until María stabs Salvador to death with a kitchen knife, never realising it would be so difficult to get rid of the body.
