Rafael leads a lonely and peaceful life. En route to his butcher's shop one morning, he can't help pulling over to rescue Marina from a beating by Daniel. taking the girl home with him, she tells him the tragic tale of her orphaned childhood and about her hard life on the streets. On discovering that daniel is the father of her baby-to-be, ad that the chances are he's back in jail, Rafael offers to look after the girl and her future offspring. Marina accepts, but warns him Daniel will eventually come back and that she doesn't know how she'll react when he does.
