Palmira Gadea receives a bitter present for her 25th wedding anniversary: nothing is what it seemed to be. Her husband is unfaithful, her daughter is pregnant by a stranger and her son breaks the news that he is a homosexual just before he kills himself in an accident. Resolving to leave her personal problems behind, Palmira decides to make herself useful in Africa, where she might just find the love she needs.
