Simon Granderath has been found dead in his apartment. His only daughter, Monika, who lives in Luxembourg, arrives to arrange he funeral and settle his state, only wanting to get back to normal life as soon as possible. However, she soon becomes aware of the fact that she hardly knew her father at all and tries to trace the various stages and encounters of his life; realising that her investigation into her father's life has really become an attempt to find her own identity.
