Anarene, a small subusb in crisis in the heart of Texas, is preparing to celebrate its first centenary. Duane, now forty years old, has become a ricj oil man. He has a wife, Karla, and they openly cheat on each other in serach of distraction. Nobody can get away from the feeling of bored frustration, although the return of Jacy, Duane's high school flame, breaks the monotony.
