A young singer-songwriter from New York, Miranda is heading to Nashville for an audition in a bar. Arriving a few minutes late for her appointment, the inflexible bar owner promptly informs her she's too late and tells her to come back in a week. On the way out she runs into James, another aspiring singer in the same situation, and they get into a strange relationship, somewhere between mutual sexual attraction and professional antagonism.
