Frank Borzage

When Professor Endicott makes a mistake in the operating theatre causing a woman's death, his assistant Paige takes the blame and sacrifices his career in response to the investigation into the decease demanded by the victim's daughter Phyllis. Out of a job, Paige meets Stafford, a bacteriologist working on a vaccination against meningitis. Paige innoculates himself with the vaccination in an attempt to bear out its efficacity while Phyllis, having learned the truth from Nurse Frances in the meantime, desperately hopes that he'll pull through.
