The Lady / THE LADY
Frank Borzage

Having come down in the world, Englishwoman Polly Pearl runs a down-and-out bar in the port of Marseilles amid endless drunken insults. Once married to an aristocrat with whom she had a son, she left her husband on discovering his infidelity with other women and had nothing better to do than to make a living for herself in the local whorehouses while entrusting an Anglican priest with the boy's education. Polly is reunited with her son in tragic circumstances.
