Documentary on General Franco's revolt and the ensuing Spanish Civil War (1936-1939) from both the Republican and Falangist points of view. BASILIO MARTIN PATINO Ex-film editing lecturer at the Escuela Oficial de Cinematografía, he debuted with Nueve cartas a Berta (Nine Letters to Berta, 1965), an important work within the so-called new Spanish cinema. Canciones para después de una guerra (Songs for After a War, 1971) was a collection of songs and graphic documents that had to wait until after Franco's death to be released, a documentary tendency he continued with Queridísimos verdugos (Dearest Hangmen, 1973), Los paraísos perdidos (Paradise Lost, 1985) and Madrid (1987).
