It Happened Yesterday

This filmed chronicle of the legendary 1969 music festival, Woodstock, offers an excellent chance to watch the performances of Joan Baez, The Who, Joe Cocker, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin, among others; but it's not just any old musical documentary, it's also a perfect reflection of the atmosphere reigning amongst the American youngsters of the time.
MICHAEL WADLEIGH Has only directed two films. In Woodstock (1970), his work consisted of selecting and editing an illustrated report of the hundred hours filmed by thirty cameramen at the legendary music festival in 1969 at which there were half-a-million hippies. In 1995 he put another, longer version together to celebrate the fact that 25 years had passed since the event. His other film, Wolfen (1981), is an extravagant eccentricity on lycanthropy and Indian tribal doctrines.
