Far from home in the Cadiz of 1965, Ramón, Alfonso and Nicolás share a rented chalet and the promise of passing their Faculty of Medicine exams. It's not however long before Alfonso and Nicolás break their undertaking on appearing with Vicky and Marian, two dancers who jump at the chance of refuge from their miserable boarding house and move in. Troubled by the girls, Ramón turns to father Esparza, who introduces him to the daughter of a good family with whom he attempts to lead a formal relationship. The problem is his increasing obsession with Vicky who, similarly attracted, tries to find the right moment for seduction. They've all changed by the end of the year: the boys' vocation is up in the air and the girls don't know how they're going to earn a living, but together they've learned to stand up to the world and to defend what they want to be.
