The action takes place in a garden during celebrations in honour of Bacchus. The attraction of the fiesta is the presence of the young Narcissus. Both gods and mortals seek his favours, but to no avail as he inaccessibly wanders through the garden after a shadow, the object of his desire. Neither the nymph Echo, who can only repeat the last syllables of the sounds she hears, nor the goddess Juno, nor Phoebus, nor even Adonis catch his attention. Finally, at the end of the party, Narcissus discovers in the reflection of a pond the identity of his beloved shadow: himself. Desperation turns him into a rose. Echo flees to the mountains where, although no-one can see her, she can be heard by everyone.

On March 7, 2001, Jorge Amat receives a liver transplant at the Paul Brousse Hospital in Villejuif. When tests for the operation show that he has bone lymphoma, he is given chemotherapy until April 2002. Having no strength to either write or think, he obliges himself during this time to confess to a camera, thus creating a filmed diary. But there's no narcissism in his action; Amat's intention is to show how his illness disfigures the body and what's left of the human being when this body betrays you, leaving only pain. This is a journey in the company of drugs with strange names like ?oxyplatine?, while the doctors struggle to beat the cancerous cells.
