Reign of Terror/The Black Book
Anthony Mann

In 1794, the exiled Marquis de Lafayette sends his emissary Charles D'Aubigny to stop Maximilien Robespierre from assuming dictatorial powers. D'Aubigny murders Duval, the new public prosecutor, whom Robespierre has never met, and assumes his place. A lovely woman named Madelon is D?Aubigny's contact with Barras, a leader of the opposition party. Robespierre tells "Duval" that he has written a death list that includes several members of his own committee in a small black book, but has misplaced it and threatens him to death if he does not recover it within twenty-four hours.
