An American family on holiday in the Eastern Europe of the 60s, the Hollanders find themselves in deep water when Walter, the father, takes a photograph of a sunset beside a restricted military area. They are obliged to seek refuge in the US Embassy, where they meet a priest who has been in hiding for six years and dreams of becoming a conjurer. The Hollander?s luck now depends on Axel, the Embassador?s incompetent son, who has been left at the helm while his father is out of town.
BIOGRAPHY
Six explicitly comical, nonsensical, witty movies gave way to a graduation in reflexive, balanced cinema making Allen into one of the most all-round moviemakers of his generation, with great works like Manhattan (1979), Interiors (1978), Mighty Aphrodite (1996) or Small Time Crooks (2000). Thirty-eight movies as a director, fifty as an actor and forty-five as a writer of screenplays endorse a remarkable, out of the ordinary career.
