I’m No Angel

Exhuberant Tira works as a dancing beauty and lion tamer at a circus. Badly needing cash, she agrees to a risky new number: she?ll put her head into the lion?s mouth. With this attraction the circus makes it to New York and Tira can pursue her dearest occupation: flirting with rich men and accepting expensive presents. Only knowing from a fortune-teller that the love of her life will be rich and have black hair, she starts going out with the handsome, wealthy Jack Clayton. This time Tira?s love is for real and, devastated when a misunderstanding causes Jack to break off the affair, she immediately sues him for breach of contract.
An actor with Keystone and with Charles Chaplin, he started directing in 1917 with actors like Billie Bevan, Valentino and Clara Bow. Later, with the arrival of the talkies, he also directed the great names of the time, including Irene Dunne, Carole Lombard, Bing Crosby, Claudette Colbert, Spencer Tracy and the naughty Mae West (?Is that a gun in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me??). Although he filmed various genres, he specialized in comedy and western with, for example, Silk Stockings (1927), Cimarron (1931) and The Bride Comes Home (1935).
