An American woman is preparing a story about Tibetan exiles in India. She meets a boy whose mother gave him a box just before she died that he must pass on to a monk who disappeared years before. A journey of knowledge for both characters and an investigation into Tibetan culture in the first feature film that Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam have made.
BIOGRAPHY
Born in India and educated at Californian universities, Sarin and Sonam worked together while students on the making of their first documentary, The New Puritans: The Sikhs of Yuba City (1986), marking the start of a professional and personal relationship. Having married in India in 1987, they moved to London, where they founded the White Crane Films production company and made numerous documentaries, most on Tibetan subjects. They currently live in New Delhi.
