A dream comes true at the end of the world
Sunday, September 20th, 2009

The Mexican director Gustavo Montiel and producer Pablo Rovito said that they met years ago at a Latin American Film School Meeting, and since then they had always wanted to make a film together. With Marea de Arena, this dream has finally come true, and after Guadalajara and Canada, they are here in San Sebastián to present what they call a “utterly natural Latin American film”. It tells the story of Juan, an obsessive photographer who, determined to withdraw from the world, takes his family off to Patagonia in Argentina, which became the main character in the film and significantly influenced shooting because of the powerful winds in the region.
