Synopsis
Fyodor Karamazov is a wealthy, out-and-out miser. He has four sons. Dimitri, the eldest, is an army officer engaged to wed the rich, beautiful Katya. Ivan is a disillusioned intellectual. Alexey, the youngest, is a monk with deep faith. The fourth son, Smerdyakov, is illegitimate. Dimitri falls in love with one of his father's mistresses, the flirtatious Grushenka. When Fyodor is murdered, Dimitri is accused of the killing, but it turns out that the real culprit is Smerdyakov, who insists that Ivan was an accomplice to his death due to having backed his belief in a world without God.
