Amid the Belfast violence, a young Protestant boy and his friends, eager to prove themselves worthy of joining the Ulster Volunteer Force, apply themselves to roughing up a Catholic family to chase it from a Protestant neighbourhood. Things go wrong and the young Catholic first-born is killed. Years later, a television programme will try to ?reconcile? the murderer with the victim?s brother to demonstrate the positive evolution of a new Ireland.
