The story of Oscar Grant III, a 22-year-old Bay Area resident, who crosses paths with friends, enemies, family, and strangers on the last day of 2008. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award at Sundance Festival and the Avenir Award at Cannes' Un Certain Regard. 

BIOGRAPHY

Ryan Coogler earned an MFA in Film and Television Production at the University of Southern California. In 2011 his student short film, Fig, won the Director's Guild of America Student Filmmaker Award as well as the HBO Short Filmmaker Award. Fig was also broadcast on HBO. Fruitvale Station, the screenplay of which was selected for the Sundance January Screenwriter's Lab, won the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at the Sundance Festival and the Un Certain Regard Avenir Award at the Festival de Cannes.
