Richard Curtis began working as a screenwriter on the series Not the Nine O’Clock News, The Black Adder, Mr. Bean and The Vicar of Dibley. When he moved to the big screen, he surprised audiences with the screenplays of the romantic comedies Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), Notting Hill (1999) and Bridget Jones's Diary (2001), giving rise to his first film as a director, the worldwide box-office hit Love Actually (2003), followed by a love letter to pop music in the 60s, The Boat That Rocked (2009). About Time was presented at the last Locarno Festival.
